hi everyone,
and by that i mean, did you perhaps help someone else learn something?
IF YOU DID, PLEASE READ ON!
anyone who has offered any kind of training or tutorial on anything during the past year, since january, please get in touch with me asap. we are putting together an important report to the city of seattle for our ctc grant and i want to document all the informal workshops and trainings and tutorials that have happened over the last 9 months. and the report is due 9/15 and we're wanting to get in information quickly so we have time to do a great report! :))
think hard about this. maybe you did something that you might not normally think is "training", but really is because someone learned something from you. maybe a few people learned something. maybe you called ameeting to orient people on how the media lab works or how the radio station works. or maybe you sat down with a few people from an organization in seattle to show them how to publish on line. maybe you helped orient someone how to tear apart and fix a computer (yes i know you geeks have been doing this cause the computers were all torn apart).
or maybe you showed someone how to write a feature and use some html to get it into the center column. maybe you showed someone(s) how to do an interview out in the field with a video camera or take a digital photo and upload it.
during protest coverage this happens all the time.
it would be great for us to document this and add this to our report.
please get in touch with me as soon as possible. it doesn't have to mean you have to write a report!!!! no, i'm doing that, but you can tell me what you did and i'll add it in. and i'll make sure i put together a mini report on this and send it to the lists so you all can see how much is really happening here but that we often don't recognize. i think we'd all be pleasantly surprised and it might inspire us to do more :)
and any other thoughts are welcome!
ciao
