:-)

Any Mir related questions can be directed to the mircoders list
(mir-coders at lists.indymedia.org) or in the #mir irc channel. If you want
to try out a simple Mir installation, contact me, and I'll set one up.

Mir's capabilities to fullfil your needs:
 > * 0) keep all articles

Possible in mir. A simple non-db php script can be easily setup to
redirect urls to older articles. This system is used by CMI Brasil.
IMC Portland uses a different, slightly more complex way with url
rewrites and a very simple java servlet.

 > * 1) improve publishing (response time, and multimedia reliability)

I think that Mir will generally answer your needs in this respect...

 > * 2) improve search

Right now, Mir probably has the best search functionality. Try searching
on the portland site ( http://portland.indymedia.org ) or the uk site
( http://indymedia.org.uk )

 > * 3) new features like calendar, themes or topic pages

Mir has extensive topic-page functionality. Very customizable (look at
the portland site). Themes are different colorschemes? CMI Brasil uses
that, though it's a bit complicated to set up. Mir lacks a calendar at
this moment. Though many sites use a protest.net calendar, and there are
possibilities to integrate the 2 a bit.

 > * 4) allow users to choose theme

Mir works basically with a fully static site. Setting up something like
this would be quite hard.

 > * 5) ease customization

Mir has probably the most extensive customization possibilities, but at
a price: it's not very easy to do. But Mir has excellent customer
support ;-).

This list is very old. I compiled a list automatically:
