[Seattle-editorial] imperialist spam

The idea of editing the comment to say nothing is appealing. I think this
gets my approval... any seconds?

I'm not talking about us removing original content because it's Republican
or worse -- although I don't personally think that would be a bad thing --
I'm talking about us doing something about the bad guys _copying_ legit
comments and _spamming_ them in there more than a dozen more times.

There are (approximately) 48 legit comments, and then one called "Repeat,"
posted by someone named "Repeat," that _includes_ some of the earlier
comments, and no original material, repeated about _13 times,_ and then
about 20 more legit comments.

Broken into pieces, the article takes up the following amounts of space on
my desktop:

original post and earlier comments: 83 KB
spam comment by Mr. Repeat: 622 KB
later comments after the spam: 37 KB

This kind of sabotage is clever and not immediately obvious, but I think
it's worth correcting when it happens.

Nathaniel, is there some way to figure out if it's all from the same IP?
Because if not, I'm not sure on what grounds we would hide all the
responses. Some of them are clearly threatening, but other than those I'm
not sure.

Nathaniel, Unfortunately there is no way to delete comments without
deleting the original post; I've tried. Perhaps someone else can get in
there behind the code and tweak it in this instance, but this is one of
several glitches in the current code base that is so frustrating. BTW what
is the title of the article; everytime I put in the link my computer just
grinds to a halt, so I can't actually see what the problem is. If this is a
bunch of comments to one article, we might want to repost the article, and
delete the original.
Please give me the title and author of the post.
Thanks for pointing this out.
