Proposal --------Re: [Seattle-editorial] imperialist spam

I won't make it to tonight's meeting, most likely. I'm too burned out
today.

Regarding the "imperialist spam" -- I agree that it's buried, but I am
not sure that it makes sense to leave it. I say we can still erase
duplicates.
Several points on this discussion:
* duplicates are duplicates -- hiding them By Any Means Necessary
(thanks Malcolm) is fine, and shouldn't need consensus.
* controversial decisions over email can be understood as passed by
silent assent after enough time (I think we agreed on twenty-four hours)
to avoid the Warnock's Dilemma ("I sent a proposal X, and nobody
responded -- was it because they all disagree or because they all
agree?"). This should resolve some of the dilemmas.
****
Commentary on Judy's suggestions towards editorial:
I think the front-page could easily be more controversial -- this
would be fine. It's really a matter of making the proposals.
Having a better, clearer list of the principles by which we choose
features is a good idea -- this would parallel the list of principles
we've established for the newswire, which is nice.
That's all I have to say today. Sorry I'll miss you.

>On second thought, I wonder at this point if it's even worth the trouble to erase; the article is buried deep in the newswire and as far as I can tell is probably not getting any readers -- if I'm wrong in this assumption let me know. Anyway I just reposted the article to the newswire. I suspect some right wing group just forwarded the link to his listserve and encouraged them to let us know what they think! Maybe they'll come after us again on this new post; I see it as newsworthy that some extremists can become so rabid about this -- it underscores the militaristic fevor that exists in the U.S. right now.
