Laurel is facing criminal charges from June 2nd 2003's LEIU (Law
Enforcement Intelligence Unit) demonstration when she was arrested and
beaten by police.
Supporters welcome and called upon! Your presence will be greatly
appreciated.



Wednesday March 31st...
Today the worst of 3 options went through. trial will be postponed
another
time (the 4th postponement) to April 20th, 21st & 22nd. So, we're
being
strung along again. Hopefully I'll have a preset trialroom and judge,
etc.
[and no waiting] but this cannot be known for sure until the readiness
hearing that comes the Friday before trial week. I refuse to waive my
right to a speedy trial again, so it cannot possibly budge more than 5
days past the expiration of april 22nd, and because the court knows
what a
fumble this case has been it's unlikely that even that would happen.

Thanks to all the folks who left encouraging messages on the machine
at my
home in olympia. unfortunately, the power went out and they all were
gone
before i could listen to them. [my housemates told me they'd been
there.]
SO, please call again! I need it! I'm feeling very discouraged at this
stage.

Julie was so gracious in handling phonecalls, carpooling and answering
questions this week and in January before the 3rd postponement. If
anyone
else is able and interested in doing some of that work later in April
it'd
be great to be able to roll the load off of her. Thanks Julie!

I don't think I can handle the frustration/retriggoring/anxiety behind
putting out another mailing between now and april 20th, so it will be
important to have folks spread the word to one another about the major
support days being april 21st and 22nd (just jury selection etc. on
the
morning of the first day, opening statements and maybe one witness in
the
afternoon.) Let me know if you're planning to come, as it is
encouraging
to hear ahead of time that folks are able to back me up with their
presence. I am sincerely sorry the delays create such earthquakes in
plans
and schedules and appreciate everyone tagging along with the
system...as
unaccountable as its prosecutors/courts/judges/clerks are and as
disenfranchising the waiting is.
