Hello Everyone,
Margo and I hope you all had a refreshing and restoring holiday
season. We look forward taking up where we left off from the last time.
At the end of last meeting people seemed ready to take on the next steps
of moving the IMC forwards and resolved to move through the conflicts of
the past few months. We are excited to see where we might go.
Tomorrow is the second meeting Margo And I are facilitating to help you
all determine what to do next. As we remember it, the purpose of the
meeting is three fold. 1) to deal with any immediate decisions that
need to get made. 2) Concretely addressing ways to constructively
address conflict, and 3) to consider proposals about what next steps to
take to determine the middle term future for the IMC. The proposals
ranged from putting IMC to sleep (for a short or longer time) to moving
to a new space elsewhere and continuing.
While there are strong differences about 3rd set of proposals, there was
a consensus about the need to handle conflict constructively and that
all voices are needed in this time of crisis. There was also agreement
if not consensus that moving out of the current space is a priority and
that give notice to LIHI that we want to get help in getting out asap.
There was strong agreement that we could meet most if not all of our
financial obligations if we could work well with each other. And there
still is a need to rebuild trust in each other for that last to happen –
no small matter.
We hope that you come to Tuesday nights meeting with a sense of the
political importance of the IMC project both in Seattle and Globally as
well as its historical importance to date. ( Not to mention the
critical need for truly independent media in this moment). Whatever yor
perspectives Margo and I encourage you to come with open hearts and
critical minds.
Please come with concrete thought through proposals and an openness to
the proposals of others.
7:00 (Please arrive at 6:45 we have lots of work to do and will start
promptly at 7:00)
See you there.
Bill & Margo
