___________
Global Day of Protest Against War
<p>In Seattle Saturday, <a href="http://www.mar20th.org/">The March
20th Coalitions<a/> well planned and quickly assembled peace march
went off well. Organizations such as <a
href="http://www.snowcoalition.org/">SNOW<a/> were able to get the
people out quickly and in force.
<p>Although at least 3 people were arrested when the <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/en/2004/03/239217.shtml">Seattle
Police<a/> would not provide adequate traffic control, prompting at
least one <a href="http://lists.riseup.net/www/arc/snow/2004-
03/msg00027.html">attorney<a/> to seek information, The march from
Seattle's First Hill to the Waterfront via the Federal Building
provided an excellent way to get out and meet neighbors committed
to Peace and Justice.
<p>Actor <a
href="http://images.indymedia.org/imc/seattle/images/2004/03/239247.
jpg">Ed Asner<a/> gave a <a href=
http://seattle.indymedia.org/en/2004/03/239248.shtml>speech<a/>,
and the crowd swelled to
about 15,000 by the time it reached Pier 61/62. Other actions <a
href="http://www.indymedia.org/en/index.shtml">around the globe<a/>
were reported to have been attended by the hundreds of thousands,
as in <a href=http://nyc.indymedia.org/>New York<a/>, and by over a
million people in Rome.
<p>Even the press got a good tongue lashing, as
<href="http://images.indymedia.org/imc/seattle/images/2004/03/239240
.jpg">signs<a/> saying
'America wants the Truth' circulated. KOMO was singled out for at
least <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/en/2004/03/239236.shtml">one
good report<a/>,
Showing a small crack in the wall of silence by the corporate press.
<p>All in all, it was a most peaceful day!
