Apologies for the UC-Champaigne guys :) Theres a lighthearted alusion to
the occasional complaints that UC-IMC are too good at fundraising ;) ;)

I've changed peoples sirnames around. Also I havent marked this up yet.
Might need to look around for suitiably idiotic photo.
Have a laugh and give me some feedback;-
Indymedia.org team in merger talks with CBS/Viacom
George Soros, CEO of Indymedia.org ltd has begun merger talks with the
CBS/Viacom
News Network to help bring together the Vibrant Staff of the Independant
News Network
with the resources and Global Consumer Reach of the CBS news network.
This follows a meeting of the IMC Board of Directors and key Indymedia
shareholders
where it was decided that Indymedia needed to branch out from its
traditional Liberal
readership demographic to encompass more mainstream news interests and
readerships.
Shayne Brown, president of the Asia Pacific Indymedia Consortium said "Its
fine we have
our loyal readership we do. We wouldn't of gotten where we are without
them. But our growth
has been marred by our inability to target advertising at the so called
'Soccer Mom'
demographic"
A spokesperson for CBS/Viacom said "This represents an exciting stage for
the CBS/Viacom Network.
The Indymedia branding represents fantastic marketing oportunities for our
clients to market
product at the 'alternative' and 'hip hop' youth market that the Indymedia
Network represents.
In other news, Solicitors have issued cease and desist orders against
Urbana Champaigne 'indymedia' centre
after it failed to stop using the Indymedia logo. Urbana Champaigne was a
former member of the indymedia
network, but was asked to leave when it refused to accept certain
categories of targeted media.
"Indymedia has become obsessed with the dollar. UC-IMC feels that
Indymedias obsession with monetising its
brand name has detracted from Indymedias original goal of providing hip
alternative music news for fans of Indy rock"
