There has already been some discussion of how local imcs handle "junk",
racist, and facist posts, I believe on usprocess within the last year. It is
worth reviewing what has been tried and what has been successful.
imcithaca wanted to remove such posts from the front page and forums pages but
still keep our committment to open publishing. We created a separate junk
posts forum. Our techs set up an automated process for editors to move the
contents of the post to the junk forum and in its place leave an explanation
and link. Anyone is welcome to read the junk but they will not encounter it
in the normal course of viewing and reading imcithaca's site. The rash of
junk posts we were experiencing quickly stopped.
