LIST ADMIN/ROLL CALL
********************
admins:
- clara (clara [at] ifrik.org)
- garcondumonde (gdm [at] fifthhorseman.net)
- josh (breitbart [at] indymedia.org)
roll call is at
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/WwwFeaturesRollCall and is
currently being updated by admins: if anyone has any ideas on how to
make it less work, that would be appreciated.
from a quick glance, we currently seem to have a good mix of individuals
although still seems to be none or very few from the global south.[i
haven't studied this in great depth at present]
need to develop contact list for if/when we need to discuss features in
more detail with a local collective (note: this may also help with if we
want to get more people involved from under-represented regions).
TRANSLATION/MULTILINGUALITY
***************************
letter sent out by clara:

"bundles" were going to be compiled of words needing to be translated
for the whole site. i'm not sure what happened to this.
PRESENTATION
************
"every body is asked to make wish lists and formulate ideas for the next
meeting"
ideas/brainstorming area for people to add to at:

TECH WISH LISTS
***************
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/WwwFeaturesTechWishList
for people to add to, i guess - and then for techies to work on ;-)
note:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/www-features/2004-April/011931.html
is a record of some bug fixes that were made in response to the meeting
- we are paying attentiong and we are appreciative!
NEXT MEETING
************
was meant to be the "15 May 15 GMT" - but presumably didn't happen, so i
guess we need to re-arrange it. i suggest that we keep the time as it
should have been, i.e. 16.00 GMT, with the following dates as
possibilities:
-- Saturday, 29th May
-- Saturday, 5th June
-- Saturday, 12th June
NOTE: 16.00 GMT Saturday =
Sat. 09.00 - San Francisco, Portland
Sat. 11.00 - Chicago
Sat. 12.00 - New York
Sat. 16.00 - [GMT]
Sat. 17.00 - London, Sheffield, Edinburgh
Sat. 18.00 - Amsterdam, Rome, Gent
Sun. 00.00 - Perth
Sun. 02.00 - Melbourne, Sydney
Sun. 04.00 - Wellington
i also suggest that we try and make a decision by Thursday, 27th May at
12.00 GMT in order that people have sufficient notice (2+ days) for a
meeting. my personal preference would be for June 5th.
FINAL NOTE
**********
i put together this email to try and help figure out where we're up to
at the moment: we have achieved a hell of a lot this past few months and
i think everyone deserves to congratulate themselves: from maintaining a
good throughput of high-quality features, turning www.indymedia.org into
a truly multilingual site, sorting out the working group and trying to
identify our strengths and weaknesses, as well as continually developing
our politics and learning from each other. not to mention, of course,
all the other work we do in our daily lives and with our local (activist
and not) communities... i think that this is all important work as we
strive to improve the site even further and we have a pretty solid base
from which to work now.
peace, love & solidarity,
--gdm
